Cold-Brook
is a tiny village of approximately 330 residents that is located in the central part of the state in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. As part of Herkimer County, Cold Brook is a region rich in history and tradition with four seasons of outdoor recreational possibilities. Herkimer County bills itself as "a diamond in the rough" and offers visitors, as well as residents, a high quality of life. Cold Brook is home to a 166-acre campground with full hookups and many other amenities such as a pool, showers, fishing, hiking and snowmobile trails and a driving range. Other nearby attractions in Herkimer County include Erie Canal Boat Cruises and sightseeing along the Southern Adirondack Scenic Byway, which begins at two locations in Herkimer County. The Enchanted Forest/Water Safari in Old Forge is New York's largest water theme park, and just a short drive from Cold Brook. It features 31 water rides and attractions, a storybook lane, petting zoo and circus shows. Another interesting day trip is to "Canal Place" in the city of Little Falls. There you will find quaint shops and cultural activities, as well as boat rides, canoe rentals and hiking on Moss Island.

The Central Heartland enjoys a four-season climate with lots of sunshine in the summer and lots of snow in the winter. This region is a unique mix of farmland, sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls and other geological wonders. The area around Syracuse receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation, and annual precipitation is from 36 to 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. Summers are pleasant, generally with only a handful of days when humidity is really a problem. Autumn is sunny and cool, but brief. Snow is usually on the ground from Christmas until mid-March, although a period when the ground is bare is also not uncommon.
