Delaware Region is an area of the Catskills located approximately two hours from New York City and two hours from Albany. It includes Sullivan and Delaware Counties, and is home to many small towns and villages, such as Barryville, Eldred, Bethel, Walton and Narrowsburg. It’s an ideal setting for the many outdoor recreational activities available in the region – rafting, canoeing, boating and fishing, hiking, biking, golf, birdwatching and wintertime skiing. The Delaware Region is well known for its’ many lakes and ponds and excellent fishing opportunities. This is also a very historic region with a wealth of cultural and historic attractions. You’ll also find small town farmer’s markets and auctions, antique stores, festivals and county fairs in the Delaware Region. The town of Bethel, which is located in the center of Sullivan County, was the site of the infamous 1969 Woodstock Festival. Today, the historic field where the festival took place is the site of the Day in the Garden concerts, soon to be the site of the Bethel Performing Arts Center. This truly is a region of outstanding natural beauty, and is great for sightseeing along the country roads and through the many small towns and villages. Tree-lined streets and Victorian style architecture bring to mind a less-hurried time, yet the region boasts highly professional and full-service amenities, as well.

Delaware Region Weather & Climate

The Hudson Valley ,which generally refers to the canyon area of the Hudson River and surrounding communities in New York State, has a four-season climate. The first significant snowfall usually occurs in December, but there are variations. Some years there is no snow or ice and the temperatures and river stays quite mild %u2013 high 40s to low 50s. March is the month to look for the first signs of spring. Summers in the Hudson Valley are hazy, warm and humid. September can be a mixed bag of clear, cool Canadian air or humid, warm air with intense downpours. October is one of the best months in the region for hiking and other outdoor sports. The weather is cooler and less humid then, with crisp, clear views of the High Peaks of the Adirondacks, the Catskills and the Hudson Highlands.

The closest airports in the area are the Stewart International airport (SWF) located about 21 miles northeast of Delaware Region in Newburgh, New York, the Teterboro airport (TEB) located approximately 28 miles south of Delaware Region in Teterboro, New Jersey, the Newark Liberty International airport (EWR) located roughly 37 miles south of Delaware Region in Newark, New Jersey, and finally the La Guardia airport (LGA) located around 37 miles southeast of Delaware Region in New York, New York.
