Jones Beach is a bustling beachfront park situated on the south shore of Long Island in the town of Wantagh. Every summer thousands of visitors escape to the seven miles of surf and sand that Jones Beach has to offer. Swimming is only one of many activities to take part in while at Jones Beach. Jones Beach is just as famous for its 14,000-seat amphitheater as it is for its waves. Tommy Hillfiger at Jones Beach Theater is an outdoor, waterfront venue that plays host to festivals and fine art performances and welcomes the world’s top celebrities and musicians all summer long. So whether it’s fun in the sun you’re seeking, or shopping and entertainment, Jones Beach is a great Long Island holiday destination.

Long Island enjoys a four-season, moderate climate, given its relatively northern latitude-which makes it a pleasant place to visit year-round. It is the largest island adjoining the continental United States, extending approximately 118 miles east-northeast from the mouth of the Hudson River, adjacent to Manhattan Island. Winters tend to be unpredictable and summers can be warm and muggy, but offshore breezes help moderate temperatures. Spring and fall are the best times to visit, when temperatures are mild. March tends to be rainy, but temperatures stay above freezing. April%u2019s warming temperatures makes it more comfortable and May is generally a gorgeous month on Long Island, weather wise. September to November is pleasant and mild, and the changing leaves make it a beautiful time to visit.
