Livingston-Manor is a village of approximately 1,300 located in Sullivan County in the southern region of the state. It sits on the edge of the beautiful Catskills Mountains, near the infamous original Woodstock site. Outdoor activities abound in the area, including fly fishing, boating, mountain biking, canoeing, golf, tennis and much more. Some of the best hiking in the state is found near Livingston Manor in the Catskills State Park, where marked trails meander through forests and around several large ponds. Frick Pond in Livingston Manor offers cross-country skiing on four, marked loop trails, with one long-distance trail that leads to Quick Lake. Livingston Manor boasts the Catskill Fly Fishing Center, Museum and Hall of Fame, which is an award winning museum that offers interpretive displays, a lovely 53-acre green area that borders Willowemoc Creek and a visitor's center and gift shop. Other attractions in the town include the New York State Fish Hatchery, Water Wheel Junction, Paradise Lake Fishing Preserve and the Catskill Morning Farm. Livingston Manor also has first class dining and several antique stores and gift shops - all just a beautiful two-hour drive from New York City.

The Catskills region region has cold, snowy winters and warm summers, but without the stifling, oppressive heat and humidity of some coastal areas. Normally, the hottest week of the year in the Catskills is the third week of July. September offers mild days and cool nights and October is a kaleidoscope of color in the Catskills. "Jack Frost" will likely make his first appearance in October in the region. November is unpredictable and with December comes colder temperatures and more moisture - either in the form of rain or snow. The full force of the winter season arrives in January and stays around until March in the Catskills. Average January temperatures are a good three to four degrees colder at elevations from one to two thousand feet and over seven degrees colder at over two thousand feet.
