Amagansett
is a historic fishing village located in Suffolk County, just two miles east of East Hampton, between the Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. It is often called the “diamond in the crown of the Hamptons,” a town with an easy, relaxed ambience, fine restaurants and elegant shopping near the ocean and bay beaches. Its’ unique name was derived from the Indian term for “place of good water,” or “place of good fishing.” The surrounding waters and nearby Hither Hills State Park still offer excellent fishing, and other outdoor recreational opportunities such as swimming, kayaking, whale watching, hiking, bicycling and nature walks. There are many museums in the area, and antique shops and art galleries to explore. Amagansett is also home to a well-known Farmers Market and a famous nightclub – The Stephen Talkhouse. Convenient buses can take visitors to and from the airports or into New York City. In Amagansett, you can relax in a historic English countryside setting, near the beautiful beaches of Long Island, just a short distance to one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. It’s a nice place to base a New York vacation – without the crowds, noise and hassle of the City.

Long Island enjoys a four-season, moderate climate, given its relatively northern latitude-which makes it a pleasant place to visit year-round. It is the largest island adjoining the continental United States, extending approximately 118 miles east-northeast from the mouth of the Hudson River, adjacent to Manhattan Island. Winters tend to be unpredictable and summers can be warm and muggy, but offshore breezes help moderate temperatures. Spring and fall are the best times to visit, when temperatures are mild. March tends to be rainy, but temperatures stay above freezing. April%u2019s warming temperatures makes it more comfortable and May is generally a gorgeous month on Long Island, weather wise. September to November is pleasant and mild, and the changing leaves make it a beautiful time to visit.
