Hampton Bays
is located on Long Island, just minutes to other “Hamptons,” including Southampton and Westhampton Beach. As part of the Nassau-Suffolk, New York metro area, Hampton Bays has all the advantages and amenities of the whole area. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy golf, tennis, horseback riding, hiking, boating and sailing. Sears Bellows County Park in Hampton Bays offers rowboat rentals, horseback riding trails, swimming, fishing, hiking and camping. A short ten-minute drive takes you to the ocean beaches and swimming, surfing, sunning and beachcombing. Hampton Bays is also home to the unique Big Duck, Friends for Long Island’s Heritage. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Big Duck is a duck-shaped building, which is an example of “roadside architecture,” and features exhibits on Long Island’s early motor age, plus a gift shop with “duck memorabilia.” Hampton Bays has several waterfront restaurants, and the village of East Quogue is just three miles away and offers more dining options, as well as shopping in quaint boutiques. Other nearby Long Island attractions include the Atlantis Marine World Aquarium, the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum and the Southampton Village Historical Museum.

Long Island enjoys a four-season, moderate climate, given its relatively northern latitude-which makes it a pleasant place to visit year-round. It is the largest island adjoining the continental United States, extending approximately 118 miles east-northeast from the mouth of the Hudson River, adjacent to Manhattan Island. Winters tend to be unpredictable and summers can be warm and muggy, but offshore breezes help moderate temperatures. Spring and fall are the best times to visit, when temperatures are mild. March tends to be rainy, but temperatures stay above freezing. April's warming temperatures makes it more comfortable and May is generally a gorgeous month on Long Island, weather wise. September to November is pleasant and mild, and the changing leaves make it a beautiful time to visit.
