Glens-Falls
is located in the northeastern corner of the state, nestled between the Adirondack Mountains and the Hudson River. It is called the "Gateway to the Adirondacks," and is approximately nine miles from Lake George. Glens Falls has been selected twice as the country's "most typical small city,' and is known for its' tree-lined streets, pristine residential neighborhoods and well maintained business district. Reader's Digest voted it as one of the top three places to raise a family and U.S. News has consistently ranked it in its' top 300 places to live in the U.S. Thus, it has earned the nickname "Hometown U.S.A." The downtown area is known for its' specialty shops, and there are also several large shopping centers and a mall in Glens Falls, and a factory outlet center is located just north of town. Restaurants and accommodations are also plentiful in the area. Glens Falls has two major parks; City Park is in the heart of downtown and has a bandstand with weekly summer concerts set among beautiful flowerbeds. Crandall Park, on the north side of town, has a recreation field, tennis and basketball courts, a center for crafts and games and a picnic area. Crandall Park is also the site of the Glens Falls International Ski Trail, which is part of the famous National Recreational Trail System. Nearby Lake George offers all kinds of outdoor recreation like swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking, parasailing, ice skating and ice fishing and much more.

The Berkshires of New York has a variable four season climate. The first significant snowfall usually occurs in December, but it varies from year to year. Some years there is no snow or ice until after the first of the New Year, and the temperatures near the Hudson River stay quite mild. March is the month to look for the first signs of spring, although cool temperatures can linger throughout the month. Summers are hazy, warm and humid. September can be mixed with clear, cool Canadian air or warm, humid air with intense downpours. October is possibly the most beautiful month in the Berkshires with warm, sunny days and cool, crisp nights. Perfect weather for enjoying the foliage. Typically, colors peak the first three weeks of October.
