Saratoga-Springs
is a beautiful city located in the central part of the state, long known for its' horse racing and picturesque setting. It sits along Interstate 87, about 15 miles south of Glens Falls near the Saratoga Spa State Park. It's the site of a world-renowned thoroughbred racetrack, where wealthy horse racing patrons built many of the large Victorian homes found in the city. In addition to horse racing, Saratoga Springs offers lots of other popular activities, city parks and gardens. The Yaddo in Saratoga has been a famous artists' retreat for decades, and is now also the site of the newly restored Yaddo Rose Garden. Congress Park is situated right in the center of downtown Saratoga and offers a "city oasis" for hiking, strolling, picnicking or just enjoying a warm, summer day outdoors. Nearby, Saratoga Lake offers all the normal lake activities such as swimming, sailing, boating, fishing, water-skiing and ice fishing in wintertime, while other more unique activities in Saratoga Springs includes hot air balloon rides over the scenic countryside, and a self-guided, 17-mile tour of the area's dairy farms. Saratoga Springs hosts a weekly Farmer's Market every Wednesday and Saturday, May through October, and a water-powered cider and ice cream mill features a family fun center complete with train ride, animal attractions, kids' play area and more. The village of Ballston Spa with its many antique stores and museums is minutes away, and beautiful Lake George is approximately a half hour from Saratoga Springs.

Central New York , including the foothills region of the Adirondack Mountains and the Finger Lakes region, enjoys a four-season climate. Summers are usually pleasantly warm, marred occasionally by brief periods of sultry conditions. The New York City area and lower portions of the Hudson Valley have much warmer summers and uncomfortable humidity, by comparison. Precipitation is pretty evenly distributed throughout the year in central New York. Topography, elevation, and proximity to large bodies of water result in a great variation of snowfall in the region, even within relatively short distances. Thunderstorms occur, on average, about 30 days in a year in central New York. Tornadoes are not common. The location and climate is perfect for growing grapes, and dozens of award-winning wineries are in the area.
