Northville is a village in Fulton County that is located within the town of Northampton. It sits inside the Adirondack Park, a historic town that dates back to the late 1780s. The lumber industry of the late 19th century virtually made Northville a boomtown, with milling, cooperage, tanning and woodenware the main industries. The town of Northville also includes the hamlet of Sacandaga Park. Today it is a popular destination for tourists in both summer, winter and fall, due to its' close proximity to the beautiful Adirondack Mountains and the Great Sacandaga Lake. You will find lodging facilities and several fine restaurants, bed and breakfasts, a golf course, a regional arts program and many marinas and arts and crafts shops in the Northville area. Activities include fishing, sailing regattas, hiking, mountain biking, ice fishing, snowshoeing and skiing. Camping is available at the Northampton Beach Campground, right along Lake Sacandaga. The village of Northville is undergoing a renovation of some of its' historic mid-1800s buildings on North Main Street, and there are plans to create a community park along Northville Lake, complete with band shell, fishing pier and picnic pavilion.

Central New York , including the foothills region of the Adirondack Mountains and the Finger Lakes region, enjoys a four-season climate. Summers are usually pleasantly warm, marred occasionally by brief periods of sultry conditions. The New York City area and lower portions of the Hudson Valley have much warmer summers and uncomfortable humidity, by comparison. Precipitation is pretty evenly distributed throughout the year in central New York. Topography, elevation, and proximity to large bodies of water result in a great variation of snowfall in the region, even within relatively short distances. Thunderstorms occur, on average, about 30 days in a year in central New York. Tornadoes are not common. The location and climate is perfect for growing grapes, and dozens of award-winning wineries are in the area.
