Ballston-Spa
is a quaint village of approximately 5,000 located a few minutes south of Saratoga Springs in northeastern New York. A town rich in history with a renovated old town district, and home to Old Iron Springs, the site of what is believed to be a healing mineral springs. Wooded areas provide the perfect landscape for teeing off at one of the tree-lined 18-hole golf courses and hiking nature trails in the area. Every summer Ballston Spa is host to many events including local farmers markets, the week-long Saratoga County fair, music concerts in Wiswall Park, and western-barbecue rodeo nights. Visitors can spend the day indoors learning about early bottle making methods at the National Bottle Museum or take one of the many craft classes offered at the Saratoga County National Historical Society Museum. The Ballston Spa Antique Center contains three large showrooms full of collectibles and antiques, and downtown Ballston Spa is a prime spot for dining, featuring restaurants that specialize in Italian, Seafood, Southwestern, and American cuisine. Ballston Spa is also near the Saratoga Race Track and nearby Saratoga Lake offers swimming, fishing and boating.

Summers are usually pleasantly warm, marred occasionally by brief periods of sultry conditions. The New York City area and lower portions of the Hudson Valley have much warmer summers and uncomfortable humidity, by comparison. Precipitation is pretty evenly distributed throughout the year in central New York. Topography, elevation, and proximity to large bodies of water result in a great variation of snowfall in the region, even within relatively short distances. Thunderstorms occur, on average, about 30 days in a year in central New York. Tornadoes are not common. The location and climate is perfect for growing grapes, and dozens of award-winning wineries are in the area.
