Little York Lake
is a 102-acre lake located in the Finger Lakes region of New York, approximately 3 miles from the town of Cortland and 20 miles from Syracuse. Among fishermen, Little York Lake is known as a “gem for all seasons.” Whether it’s perch, largemouth bass, brown trout, pickerel, bluegill or black crappie – they’re all a possibility in Little York Lake. Cottages surround the picturesque lake and public access is available via Dwyer Memorial Park on the north end of the lake. There is also shore fishing in the park and along the bridge located on Little York Crossing Road at the southern end of the lake. Other activities in Dwyer Park include hiking, bicycling, picnicking, swimming and water skiing or wading in the streams and wading pool. There are also many waterfalls in the Little York Lake area. This area is known as the Seven Valley Region - a diverse area surrounded by scenic hills. Little York Lake is nestled between two of these hills just north of Cortland. It’s a man-made lake that was created around the turn of the 20th century and was used to harvest ice by the Little York Ice Company. The town of Cortland offers shopping, live entertainment, restaurants and movie theaters. For more entertainment, including shopping malls and museums, the city of Syracuse is a short drive away.
