Naples
, known as the “Grape Pie Capital of the World, is nestled in the hills of the Finger Lakes Region approximately four miles south of Canandaigua Lake. Although small, it is a charming town well known for its’ wineries and annual Grape Festival, which is usually held in September. This is when this quiet little town really comes to life, with a juried arts and crafts show, two entertainment stages, horse drawn wagon rides, wine tastings and so much more. More than 100,000 visitors come each year for this free, family event. Naples is also home to The Naples Valley Arts & Crafts Village, which sits in a beautiful meadow surrounded by trees, hills and the Naples Creek. Over 70 unique stores are open in the Village every weekend. Area attractions include the Finger Lakes Race Track, boat tours on Canandaigua Lake, skiing at Bristol Mountain, winery tours, fall color tours, antiquing, hiking, golf and more. Naples has several fine restaurants and accommodations range from elegant hotels to cozy bed and breakfasts and historic inns.

The Finger Lakes Region has four seasons that are greatly moderated by the eleven lakes of the area. This is because the greater the volume of water, the more time it will take for the air to heat up in the summertime, and in winter, the heat that the lakes have retained all summer is slowly released, moderating temps along the shoreline. Thus, communities along the lakeshores will be warmer in winter and cooler in the summer compared to areas further away from the shore. This phenomenon also accounts for the successful vineyards in the Finger Lakes region. This region receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation. Total precipitation ranges from less than 36 inches to approximately 40 inches of rain and snowmelt.
